This venture was launched successfully in 2003. The object is to give charities and other voluntary groups the opportunity to publicise themselves and to raise funds via a sponsored walk along Eastbourne's renowned seafront. His Worship The Mayor of Eastbourne will start the "Walk"at 11am. Free pitches for local charities are provided on the Western Lawns (opposite the Grand Hotel) and entertainment provided for the visiting public.

This year we have visits from the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award "mega"-trailor, Rotary's own Roadshow & a host of entertainment including a jazz band, Roman Military displays, a Dance School display, Punch & Judy, & much more!  A funfair, complete with food-stalls, is also provided so come along between 11am & 4pm & enjoy!   Entrance is completely free!

"Alone at Christmas": 25th December 2008

Photo of Eastbourne Rotary clubs Alone at Christmas

This project, now in its 30th Anniversary Year, seeks to alleviate the loneliness felt by people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day. All invited guests (in the region of 100) are collected, sit down to an excellent lunch, entertained during the afternoon, and then after tea taken back to their homes. Logistically this is a major exercise with the planning and the involvement of all members. On Christmas Day the Club is supported by members of local Eastbourne Rotary Clubs and other volunteers.
